Roux had us fooled at first - she look just like her dam when she was a cria. Shearing revealed an awesome transformation with a unique grey frosting along her mid-sides. She really has turned out to be a stunning girl!
Her sire, Illini’s Deuce’s Wild, is a wildly marked harlequin who transformed dramatically as he matured — a true testament to the power of color genetics. When he was first born, he was thought to be pinto, but as he has grown, the spotting and pattern further developed and changed colors. He gets a lot of his color from his dam, Willo, with a drastic upgrade in fleece quality. He has awesome density with a very soft handle. He's extremely typey and well-built with strong bone and an exceptional leg set. His personality is also a huge plus. Deuce is inquisitive and very easy to handle. Deuce has gone through several color changes through his first few shearings.
Roux's dam is a looker just like her daughter. Elderwood's Voodoo Queen is an outstanding harlequin reigning from spotted lines on both sides of her pedigree. The combination of her appaloosa sire, Golden Touch's Easy Rider, and her harlequin dam, FPC Peruvian Aiko, proved to be a potent combination.
We plan to retain Roux for future spot production.
