From special events and seasonal celebrations to alpaca shows, educational opportunities, and the occasional chance to get your hands dirty, there are plenty of ways to experience Elderwood Farms.

Located in Millington, Tennessee, just north of Memphis, Elderwood Farms has been sharing our love of alpacas with our community since 2012. While we are not regularly open to the public, we offer select opportunities throughout the year to meet the herd, learn more about alpacas, and experience farm life firsthand.

The Alpaca Encounter

Our signature Alpaca Encounter brings guests closer to the animals we love.

Meet alpacas up close, learn about the herd, discover what makes these animals so unique, and enjoy a special day designed for alpaca lovers of all ages.

The Alpaca Encounter is offered as a special event rather than regular farm hours, so watch our website and social media for upcoming dates and details.

Seasonal Events & Meet-and-Greets

Sometimes the herd likes to get out, too.

Throughout the year, Elderwood Farms participates in select community events, holiday activities, alpaca meet-and-greets, and special appearances around the Memphis area.

From Halloween costumes to Christmas photos — and apparently the occasional visit from the Grinch — you never quite know where an Elderwood alpaca might turn up next.

Shearing Day

Once a year, all that fleece has to come off.

Alpaca shearing day is one of the busiest — and most interesting — days of the year at Elderwood Farms. At times, we invite volunteers to join us and experience an important part of alpaca husbandry firsthand.

It’s a unique opportunity to see how alpacas are shorn, learn about fleece and fiber, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into caring for a herd.

Meet Us at the Shows

Elderwood Farms travels throughout the country exhibiting our herd at some of the industry’s largest alpaca shows — and you don’t have to own an alpaca to come watch.

Alpaca shows are a great opportunity to see animals from farms across the country, learn more about the industry, and meet the Elderwood crew while we’re on the road.
