ELWD's Totally Bewitched

FPC Peruvian Aiko was a much-loved Harlequin Appaloosa Huacaya female whose influence continues throughout our patterned breeding program at Elderwood Farms in Tennessee. We loved her beautiful head, long staple, and soft, bright fleece with coverage from head to toe. What she produced gave us even more reason to treasure her. Aiko joined us unproven through a herd dispersal. As TGA Mario’s only registered offspring, she represented a distinctive genetic line tracing through Senna’s Zoey to 6Peruvian Century. Preserving that line became an important part of our breeding decisions. Her dam, Zenith’s Peruvian Kismit, added depth through ancestors including PPPPeruvian Royal Fawn, Majestado De Peru, and 6Peruvian 007. Aiko brought those genetics together with the patterned ancestry that would become such a meaningful part of her legacy. All six of Aiko’s known cria were Appaloosa or Harlequin Appaloosa, including her five registered offspring. We lost Aiko and her final cria to birthing complications, but retained three daughters by different sires to continue her line. Those daughters have since produced another generation of patterned alpacas. Retained Daughters and Their Descendants: • ELWD’s Totally Bewitched - By WT Gold’s Paiute; dam of ELWD’s Without a Hitch and multi-champion Elderwood’s Twitch Craft. This branch carries Aiko’s genetic line into our herdsire lineup as well as our foundation females. • Elderwood’s Voodoo Queen - By Golden Touch’s Easy Rider; blue-ribbon-winning Harlequin Appaloosa and dam of ELWD’s Voodoo LaRoux and Elderwood’s Voodoo Veil. • Elderwood’s Maybe It Was Memphis - By Excelsior’s Patriotic Spirit; blue-ribbon winner and dam of Appaloosa Elderwood’s Bonanza, extending Aiko’s influence through the third retained daughter. Aiko’s other registered offspring were ELWD’s Loosahatchie Rage and Elderwood’s Riddler, both Appaloosas. Aiko was a girl we felt privileged to have in our herd, and watching her daughters and grandchildren develop gives us so much to be proud of.
