Elderwood's Prince of Thieves

Clio The Muse is the one who started it all at Elderwood Farms. As the very first alpaca in our journey, Clio holds a special place in the heart of our farm and family. We first met her on a trip to Red Banks Alpacas while making potential purchase selections, never realizing that one alpaca would become the beginning of everything that Elderwood Farms would grow into. At the time, we had no idea where this new adventure would lead — only that there was something special about her. Clio did not yet have a name when we met her, but she had a little companion named Pinocchio. Inspired by the Disney connection, we first considered the name “Cleo,” after Geppetto and Pinocchio’s goldfish. Since we were also leaning toward a Greek gods and goddesses theme for registration, she officially became Clio The Muse. Clio is more than just our first alpaca — she is part of the foundation of Elderwood Farms in Millington, Tennessee, just outside of Memphis. For those who have followed our farm through the years, she represents our very beginning and the heart behind what we do. She is also a proven producer. Her first cria was our first cria ever born at Elderwood Farms — Our Boy Jimmy, who remains an especially meaningful part of our story. Clio later produced Prince of Thieves, who became known to many on social media as the “smiling alpaca,” helping her earn a place not only in our breeding program, but also in the hearts of many of our followers. Clio’s pedigree includes well-known names on her sire - Melinero's - side: PPPeruvian Pluro, PPPeruvian Chaval, PPPeruvian Cavalier, and 4Peruvian Silver Bullet. Her dam, Kwanita, is a daughter of Aussie Rockford and comes from a lineage known for color and quality. Whether you found Elderwood Farms through our alpacas, our social media, or simply a love for animals, Clio is one of the most important reasons this farm exists today. She will always be part of our foundation story — a true Farm Forever and a lasting part of Elderwood Farms’ history.
