Bentwood Alpacas Peruvian Calliope

Bentwood Alpacas Peruvian Calliope brought show-ring success, distinctive Harlequin Appaloosa markings, and a proven production record to Elderwood Farms in Millington, Tennessee. Her speckled face caught our attention, but her conformation, fleece quality, and patterned offspring gave us even more reason to bring her home! Calliope was later sold into retirement, with two spotted daughters retained to continue her genetic line.

Calliope earned Color Champion at the 2009 Great Western Alpaca Show and three first-place ribbons. Her contribution went well beyond her own show career, with Appaloosa and Harlequin offspring that have continued producing another generation of patterned alpacas.

Her pedigree connects directly to Curly Calib, featured in our Appy Archives. Calliope’s dam, Dewey Meadows Peruvian Ariel, was an Appaloosa daughter of Curly Calib, making Peruvian Platinum Calliope’s maternal great-grandsire. Fancy and Missy give us two continuing branches of Calliope’s genetic line, each with its own contribution to our breeding program.
